Julie Stratton – Director
Julie is a Registered General Nurse / Registered Mental Nurse PIN 83H1524E ; her career has been in Forensic Psychiatry, Acute Psychiatry, CAMHS and Mental Health within Deaf Services. Julie took a career break from healthcare to attain a degree in Law and Diploma in Legal Practice and spent some time in legal practice and as a lecturer in law.
Julie returned to healthcare in 2002 as a senior clinical nurse, and then Director of Nursing. For the past 18 years she has had both managerial and training roles also having a dual role as Lecturer Practitioner for High Dependency Services and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Salford and she has also spent two years as a Hospital Director for Priory Healthcare. Julie is experienced in managing, designing and delivering a wide range of training resources and programmes for major health and social care providers including specialist courses on The Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act Awareness for Hospital and Community Care professionals.
Julie is also Qualified in Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support (M/MRI/03/052 ALS Provider 2999414)) and Immediate Life support (FRE – 12/08/2014) the latter is updated every year at Southmead Hospital Bristol. Julie has a Teaching Qualification ENB 7303 and a First Aid Trainer Qualification with St John Ambulance. She is a qualified Airway Management and Medical Gases Trainer.
Julie specialises in Mental Health Training and has The Certificate in Mental Health Law as well as experience working in Mental Health and Family law. She is also an NSPCC safeguarding trainer.
More recently Julie has been working for Commissioning services within CCG’s undertaking service and person centered reviews flowing the Winterbourne View recommendations.
- Member of IMHAP and holds her certificate in mental health law and an MSc in Forensic Behavioural Science.
- Member of the UK Resuscitation council and the institute for conflict resolution.
- Successfully completed the NSPCC Training the Trainer certificate.
Bernadette Lynch – Trainer
Bernadette has a background in both law and mental health training. She has worked in practice as a solicitor and as a lecturer in law at the University of Birmingham, the University of Oxford and has worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Universities of Pennsylvania and San Diego. More recently Bernadette has worked as an in-house trainer in Mental Health Awareness for Future Health and Social Care, a community-based charitable organisation that provides accommodation and support for vulnerable groups including people with mental health problems and learning disabilities. She also works as a trainer with MOVING ON , an organisation comprising service users and professionals who deliver mental health awareness training with a focus on recovery for organisations such as Birmingham Social Services, MIND and the Citizens Advice Bureau and as a trainer and consultant for fch, a voluntary and charitable organisation providing housing and support for vulnerable groups including those with mental health and learning difficulties: currently engaged in providing consultancy services for the establishment of a service user involvement project.
Jillian Mandley – Consultant Trainer
Jillian has worked as a lecturer in universities the NHS, Independent Sector and Prison Services. She has held senior roles such as Director of Nursing and Director of Clinical Services and she specialises in self harm, suicide prevention, women’s Issues and mental health law. Jillian has also set up low secure provisions and developed organisation systems and facilitated quality systems within this framework. Previously she has been involved in developing Deaf and hearing staff group through delivery of educational programmes and in developing clinical framework for Deaf and hearing patients. Jillian has a specialist interest in Personality Disorder having managed and reviewed national specialist and general service Mental Health, Learning Disability & Personality Disorder specification directory. Jillian has had Visiting Lecturer status for The University of York on assessment, management and treatment of Personality Disorders.
Tania Taylor – Trainer
Tania has been working in a business environment for almost 7 years as a Hospital Manager with responsibility for the clinical standards within the hospital, the budgets and expenses of the unit and managing stock levels.
Auditing has been a big part of her role both in house and externally including BSI auditing.
Tanya has experience of supervising and managing a staff team and as an independent healthcare trainer. Tania has had responsibility for the development and delivery of Organisation wide training programmes in Person Centred care and MCA / DoLS and has also carried out in house training, and as part of the project group for new Computerised Care systems and Time and attendance.
Tania is a qualified first aider instructor and has completed an IOSH qualification and specialises in mental health courses.
Mark Riddell MBE – Associate Trainer
Mark is a senior social work manager working in safeguarding and child protection. He has been employed as Project Manager to design, set up and manage a fully operational Multi-Agency Team. The team has in its make up professionals from all sectors across children’s services. The aim of the service is to reduce the referrals coming into social care ensuring appropriate signposting, to reduce the number of children needing child protection plans and to reduce the number of children needing to be looked after by the local authority. Prior to this he worked as a Team Leader with responsibilities to manage a team of 42 qualified and unqualified staff within the Corporate Parenting Service. He supervised staff in line with policy and procedures and was responsible for case work decisions, human resource issues in supporting staff in their role i.e. mentoring and coaching. Mark has extensive experience in Child protection and takes the lead on our safeguarding programmes.
Jamie McPherson – Trainer
Jamie is our lead advisor / trainer for ILS and has developed the course materials. Jamie is an Operating Department Practitioner previously working within the armed forces and as a Resuscitation Officer in Cyprus for the Royal Air Force.
He is also registered as a trainer with the UK Resuscitation Council and has been an Advanced Life Support Provider since 2012. His Life support certificate reference is L/BHH/11/115. He also qualified as a Resuscitation Instructor with Aintree University Hospitals in May 2011. He has a Diploma of Higher Practice in Operating Department Practice and is currently undertaking the degree.
Jamie delivers ILS, first aid and venepuncture and cannulation courses. Jamie delivers ILS, first aid and venepuncture and cannulation courses. He also teaches Level 2 Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Fire Safety.
Chris King – Associate Trainer / Consultant
Chris King is a solicitor with over 10 years post qualification practice. Chris was a partner in a large Manchester firm before establishing his own legal firm in 2013 which provides specialist corporate, commercial, litigation, Property and employment services and Healthcare Advice.
Chris advises a range of businesses, including healthcare businesses and medical practices in the UK, on their key risk management issues. He trains on legal and complaints management courses.
Tim Rogers – Associate Trainer / Consultant
Tim is a former Police detective specialising in the management of Registered Sex Offenders. He primarily ensured that children were safe from harm by proactively managing offenders who had sexually abused children or that had committed other serious offences against children and vulnerable adults. He trained and qualified with C.E.O.P. and UClan in the forensic psychology and risk assessment of child sex offenders.
He now utilises his skills and experience gained, in educating children, training front line staff, and other professionals working with children. Tim delivers specialist safeguarding training including • Levels 1 to 3 Education C.P. Training incl DSO-DSL, C.P. Workshop for Pupils and Parents, Levels 1 to 5 Healthcare C.P. Training-Safeguarding for Practitioners, Safer use of the Internet-Internet Safeguarding Staff training, Protecting children on-line, C.S.E.-F.G.M.-Radicalisation and Extremism as a Safeguarding Issue and Managing allegations against Staff.
James Andrews – Trainer
James is a HCPC-registered Paramedic (no. PA19967) and Resuscitation Council (UK) Advanced Life Support Instructor. James has an extensive career in the Ambulance Service since 2001 when he joined as an Emergency Medical Technician, he then achieved his Paramedic qualification in 2005. He has considerable experience of pre-hospital emergency care during, including management of cardiac arrest, major trauma and acute medical emergencies in adults and children, as well as acting as a mentor to junior colleagues and working solo shifts on Fast Response Vehicles. James also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education which I completed in 2013.
