Training FAQs

Please find below a list of the most common questions we are asked. These should answer any queries you may have, however if you cannot find the information you need here, please feel free to contact us and we will help you with your enquiry.

How do I book a course?

We have tried to make it as simple as possible to book to a course and all the details you need can be found in our how to book section.

How and when do I pay?

Our terms of business include details of how and when to pay. For more information, please see our full how to book section.

Where is the training held?

Generally, the training is conducted at your venue providing suitable arrangements can be made, however if this is not possible, a different, mutually acceptable location will be used. We also have use of dedicated training facilities in Birmingham.

What time does the training start and finish?

Our courses start at either 9am or 9.30am. Half day courses finish at either 12.30pm or 1.00pm and the full day courses will finish at 4.30pm or 5pm, unless otherwise stated. However, we are extremely flexible and are normally able to alter these times to meet your needs. Evening and weekend sessions can also be accommodated (please ask for more details).

Courses that last a full day will include a lunch break and there will also be short comfort breaks in the morning and afternoon. You will receive a full course itinerary, along with your booking confirmation prior to the course.

Who does the training?

All of the Gateway Training team are fully qualified trainers, with vast training and industry experience. All our first aid trainers have a paramedic background or are Registered General Nurses. Further details, and personnel profiles can be provided if required.

Are the courses certificated?

Each course will include a practical or written assessment and certificates will be issued to all successful delegates. The certificate is personalised to the delegate which details the course they have completed.

A number of the courses are not formally assessed as they are attendance courses only (however we do include group discussions to assess whether the students have absorbed the information).

How many delegates will be on the course?

We strictly control delegate numbers to ensure that the high quality of training is constantly maintained and in doing this, each delegate can be confident that they will gain the best possible training. Numbers do vary from course to course – but there are normally around 8 to 15 delegates. Numbers on our bespoke training courses are often dictated by the client.

What should I wear?

We find that delegates are most comfortable wearing smart casual clothing and this is most suitable for completing practical exercises.

Can delegates be contacted?

We respectfully request that mobile phones are switched off during training sessions however, during breaks delegates are welcome to make any calls they need to. Additionally, we provide contact number(s) that can be used in case of an emergency and the trainers will get any messages to the relevant people.

The training we provide is designed to ensure all students complete their course and then can return to their day-to-day activities with greater confidence in their understanding and ability.
